Freezers vs. Fillers- Which is Better?
Injectables are the preferred option for many men and women looking for a quick beauty boost. With little to no recovery time and impressive results, injectables are a valuable alternative to more invasive cosmetic surgeries. If you’re considering your first injectable treatment, you may be wondering which is right for you. Dr. Matarasso would love to give you some custom recommendations; schedule an appointment and come on in. In the meantime, learn a bit more about freezers and fillers to discover which injectable treatment you might prefer.
Freezers
If you’re not familiar with the term “freezers” you might be familiar with the most common injectable freezer: Botox. This cosmetic treatment uses specialized compounds to halt muscle contractions, diminishing the look of wrinkles. This treatment is most effective on wrinkles caused by muscle contractions like those found on the forehead and around or between the eyes.
While Botox is certainly the most common freezer, it isn’t the only one. Dr. Matarasso also offers Dysport. These two treatments offer similar results, with a few differences. When properly applied, both relax facial muscles without impairing the ability to make normal facial expressions.
Fillers
While freezers relax muscles, fillers replace lost volume. They are used to plump up areas that need additional volume, filling in crevices, smoothing wrinkles and restoring facial contours. By replacing lost volume you can return to a youthful look, without having to resort to surgery or invasive procedures.
There are many different types of fillers available, each with distinct advantages. Some of our options may include:
- Restylane- With little risk of allergic reaction, this hyaluronic acid filler lasts for a long time. It binds with water inside of the body, providing results for months and years to come. We commonly use Restylane between the eyebrows and around the nose.
- Perlane- Perlane is used to treat deep facial lines, plump up the lips and reshape the cheeks and chin. Like Restylane it is a purified hyaluronic acid that poses little allergy risk and provides long lasting results.
- Juvederm- Volumizing lips, filling in crow’s feet and smoothing skin are just a few of the many uses for Juvederm. This treatment can last 6-9 months and even longer with a quick follow-up visit.
