Am I a Good Candidate for Microdermabrasion?
Have you ever noticed that Hollywood celebrities don’t seem to age? Even in their 40s and 50s (and beyond), they have smooth, tight skin and a flawless complexion. What are they doing differently? Can a real woman achieve this same beauty?
You don’t have to be walking the red carpet to hold the hands of time at bay. For many celebs, the secret to ageless beauty is careful maintenance and a little microdermabrasion. If you’d like to enjoy smoother, younger-looking skin, come see Dr. Matarasso and ask what microdermabrasion can do for you.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion isn’t a new beauty treatment by any means, but it is time-tested and still loved for its results. It is a non-surgical, non-chemical treatment that works using exfoliation. The top layers of your skin are gently removed, allowing fresh young skin to make an appearance. Microdermabrasion also stimulates collagen production, helping your skin to look and feel younger.
Microdermabrasion uses a specialized device to exfoliate and remove dead cells. The device we use in our offices uses aluminum oxide crystals for exfoliation. It also provides gentle suction to remove cells from the surface of the skin.
Is Microdermabrasion Painful?
Microdermabrasion is not considered a painful procedure. An anesthetic is not required. Some patients say it feels like a light scratching on the skin. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. After treatment you’re free to resume your regular activities. Many patients come in and have microdermabrasion on their lunch breaks before heading right back to work. You may experience a bit of redness or flaking in the days following treatment.
What Can Microdermabrasion Do for Me?
Microdermabrasion can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin (no wonder celebrities love it so). Let’s take a quick look at what it can do:
- Rejuvenate Skin
- Smooth and Improve Texture
- Fight Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Improve Skin Tone
- Smooth Acne and Other Scars
- Decrease the Appearance of Sun Damage
